Golden State Warriors fans everywhere have long been dreaming of the day that Klay Thompson finally returns to action. The All-Star shooting guard has been sidelined by injury over the past two seasons, which is why there's also a bit of hesitation from his end with regards to his much-anticipated comeback.

Thompson was brutally honest about what he expects from himself once he returns from injury. The Warriors star admitted that he might not be the same player that he once was from the get-go:

“I was playing the best basketball of my life in 2019 when I get hurt,” Thompson told Frank Isola and Brian Scalabrine in an interview with Sirius XM (h/t Sam Quinn of CBS Sports). “I expect to get back there. Not right away just because that was 100 games worth of work and incredible shape. But when I step back on the floor I'm gonna be a very effective player. Maybe not what I was doing shooting the ball like I was, but I will still be really good.”

Klay Thompson has been shooting the lights out for pretty much his entire career. Over the past five seasons, the two-time All-NBA guard has averaged 3.2 triples per game on a 42.3-percent clip. Those are some pretty insane numbers and it's quite understandable if Thompson is unable to reach those same heights right away.

What is clear, however, is that Klay Thompson and the Warriors are confident that he will get there sooner rather than later:

“And I will just keep going up – and I really believe that, and the training staff believes that, and my teammates believe that,” he added. “You know the power of the mind. I have belief in myself to get there again.”

The Warriors have yet to provide a firm timetable for Thompson's return, but at this point, we all just can't wait for him to take the court again.
