Miami Hurricanes WR Charleston Rambo challenging single season records
Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Charleston Rambo is on pace to challenge for program single-season records in receptions and receiving yards. At his current pace, Rambo would finish with over 74 receptions for 926 plus yards and just less than five TDs. Rambo has the best chance at the reception record.
Leonard Hankerson holds the Miami single-season records with 72 receptions and 13 TDs in 2010. Allen Hurns set the single-season Miami receiving yardage record with 1,162 in 2013. Hearns broke the previous record set by Hankerson with 1,156 in 2010. Rambo leads Miami in receptions and receiving yards in 2021.
Miami is led by Rambo and Mike Harley with two touchdown receptions each this season. After transferring from Oklahoma during the offseason, Rambo had his breakout game for Miami against Michigan State with a program record-tying 12 receptions for 156 yards and two TDs. Rambo added five for 99 against Virginia.
If the Miami offense is going to break out of a season-long slump against FBS teams, Rambo is going to have to continue the type of performances he had against Michigan State and Virginia. Rambo is 45th nationally averaging 77.4 receiving yards per game and tied for 25th averaging 6.2 receptions per game.
Miami pursued Rambo as a transfer to add a needed threat in the downfield passing game. Rambo is currently averaging 12.48 yards per catch. That is slightly below the 12.48 YPC Rambo averaged last season with Oklahoma. Rambo averaged 15.6 YPC as a freshman with Oklahoma in 2019 and 17.3 as a Sophomore in 2019.
Rambo has been critical for Miami this season with Harley struggling. Harley has 22 receptions for 193 yards and a career-low of 8.8 yards per reception. If Miami can get Harley going in the second half of the season, the Hurricanes offense can become what was expected of them at the beginning of the season.

Miami ranks 55th nationally in passing against FBS opponents in 2021 averaging 244.8 yards per game. The Hurricanes were 27th in passing in 2020 averaging 277.3 passing yards per game. Miami will pass defenses in the bottom half of the ACC in the last seven games of the season. Rambo will have more big games.
