A University of Alabama student organization needs your help to save lives.

Be the Match has one goal: adding people to the National Bone Marrow Registry.

Getting on the registry is simple. All it requires is some paperwork and a swab on the inside of the mouth. Then the swab to a lab, where it will hopefully be matched with a cancer patient in need of a bone marrow transplant.

Be the Match Account Manager Melinda Garrington said the registry is important because it ensures patients get the lifesaving treatment they need.

“Doctors search our registry every day looking for matches for patients in need of stem cell or bone marrow donations,” Garrington said. “What we are doing building our registry and encouraging college students to join the registry”.

If you missed the event but are interested in adding yourself to the registry, you can request a swab kit right here.
