After what was a whirlwind of a summer, the Los Angeles Lakers currently have a bit of a logjam at the point guard spot. Russell Westbrook, Kendrick Nunn, and Rajon Rondo are all expected to vie for minutes at the one, with Russ likely to get the starting nod from head coach Frank Vogel. Despite their options at the PG position, LA is reportedly adding yet another player in the mix.

According to NBA inside Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Lakers will be bringing in Frank Mason III on a training camp deal:

Mason, 27, has been in and out of the league over the past two seasons. Last year, he signed a two-way deal with the Orlando Magic where he played just four games. The 5-foot-11 point guard has also had previous spells with the Sacramento Kings and the Milwaukee Bucks.

As the above report states, the Lakers have signed Mason on a short-term deal that will allow him to join the squad for training camp. If the coaching staff like what they see from him, then Mason could earn himself a more permanent deal for LA. Even if he does, however, this does not guarantee a spot on the Lakers' final roster for 2021-22. It's going to be a tough road ahead for Mason, but at this point, he at least has his foot inside the door.
