The Maryland man freed from death row is being compensated by the state for the nine years of his life behind bars for a crime he didn't commit.

Today, the Maryland Board of Public Works approved over $421,237 to Kirk Bloodsworth.
Back in March of 1985, Bloodsworth was sentenced to death for the rape and murder of nine-year-old Dawn Hamilton.
That sentence was later changed to life in prison after evidence of prosecutorial misconduct was discovered.
But in 1993, DNA evidence proved Bloodsworth did not commit the crime and led them to another suspect who later pleaded guilty.
Bloodsworth had already received $300,000 from the state in 1994 for his wrongful imprisonment.
