Chicago Fire has said goodbye to several characters over the years, whether they choose to leave the Firehouse or they die in the line of duty. It’s always a difficult process, but some departures are so impactful and dramatic that they serve to remind fans why they fell in love with the show in the first place.

Bianca Holloway is one of the characters who received a memorable goodbye. Her time on the show may have been brief, but it packed a devastating punch for both fans and Severide (Taylor Kinney), who grew particularly close to the detective.

Here’s a rundown of Bianca Holloway’s character history and her ultimate demise.

Detective Holloway died in Chicago Fire season 4

Detective Bianca Holloway was introduced in the season 4 episode “What Happened to Courtney”. She’s a no-nonsense officer who embarks on a dangerous undercover mission, and who relies on Severide when she’s unable to find someone to watch her son. Severide and Holloway’s son spend time together at the firehouse, but their bonding is cut short when the mission goes awry.

Detective Holloway is ultimately killed in the episode “The Last One for Mom”. She’s shot on the way to a hearing, which puts Severide in the very difficult position of having to figure out what’s best for her son. There haven’t been many references to Holloway since her season 4 death, but fans who have revisited the show can attest that it’s one of the most shocking developments in the entire run.

Jenny Mollen plays Holloway on Chicago Fire

Holloway is played by Jenny Mollen. The actress has had a wildly successful TV career starting with her guest spot on the supernatural drama Angel in 2003. She went on to appear on shows like CSI: NY, Girls, and Hawaii Five-0. Independent of these scripted roles, Mollen co-hosted the first season of Bachelor In Paradise: After Paradise and served as a panelist on Chelsea Lately.

In addition to her acting career, Mollen has published two collections of essays and has written articles for numerous high-profile publications like Cosmopolitan and Playboy. Her second book, Live Fast Die Hot, is set to be adapted into a feature film starring Anne Hathaway.

Mollen is married to actor Jason Biggs, whom she met on the set of My Best Friend’s Wedding in 2008. The couple wed in April of that year, and have gone on to have two children. Mollen and the rest of her family currently reside in New York City.
