Wolverines host San José State and Seattle U in WAC play

HOMESTAND STARTS THURSDAY VS SJSU
Utah Valley University will return home for the first time in WAC play and begin a three-game homestand starting with San José State on Thursday at 7 p.m. MT from Clyde Field. The Wolverines will also host Seattle U on Saturday at 7p.m. MT. Both games will air live on ESPN+.

UVU (5-1-2, 2-0-0) has won two straight, both coming in conference play. Last Thursday's contest at UT Rio Grande Valley was canceled due to weather resulting in just one game on the trip to Texas. Because that game will not be made up, the WAC standings will now be based on points per match, instead of total points.

LAST TIME OUT
A pair of goals in the first half carried Utah Valley University to a 2-1 road win at Incarnate Word last Sunday. Aaron Nixon and Jojea Kwizera scored the Wolverine goals. Nixon scored in the 34th minute with assists from Kwizera and Erik Lyons. Kwizera's game-winner came just four minutes later. Nixon has a team-high four goals while Kwizera and Diego Castillo have four assists each to lead the club. Castillo also has three goals and a team-leading 10 points.

UP NEXT
The Wolverines play just once next week, when UNLV comes to Clyde Field for a match on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. MT.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
San José State (4-5-1) is 2-1-0 in the WAC through its first three games.  The Spartans lost their opener at Air Force, 2-0, before winning a pair of shutouts over Dixie State and UNLV at home. Willy Miranda's four goals lead the team. The all-time series between SJSU and Utah Valley is tied 3-3-1.

Seattle U (6-5-0) is also 2-1-0 in conference play. The Redhawks dropped a 1-0 decision at 17th-ranked Grand Canyon in their opener before also shutting out both UNLV and Dixie State last weekend. James Morris' four goals leads the team while goalkeeper Akili Kasim leads the conference with four shutouts. Seattle U owns a 5-1-3 record all-time against UVU.
