The Kyrie Irving vaccine saga continues on, with the Brooklyn Nets even starting to prepare for 2021-22 without him in their plans. Until he gets vaccinated, Kyrie wouldn’t be able to practice nor play in home games at the Barclays Center due to New York City’s COVID-19 mandates.

Many players across the league have their opinions about the entire situation, which is definitely taking its toll on the Nets’ title aspirations. Phoenix Suns star Chris Paul, who used to be the president of the NBPA, was asked about Irving’s holdout on Wednesday during an episode of First Take with Stephen A. Smith:

Very mature answer from CP3. Ultimately, this is simply Irving’s choice and it’s evidently a personal decision. He’s been absent from Nets practice all week since they returned from San Diego and Steve Nash doesn’t even know when he’ll be back with the team at this point.

Andrew Wiggins took a similar stance, but he caved and got the vaccine last week and is now available to play in home games for the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco. In the end, there isn’t much the Nets can do here. Kevin Durant and James Harden can try and convince Irving to get the jab, but again, it’s not exactly their place to cross those personal boundaries.

This is arguably the talk of the NBA right now and it will be very interesting to see how it unfolds in the coming weeks.
