The Los Angeles Lakers opened the preseason with a blowout loss to the Brooklyn Nets and continue their preseason trek against the team that defeated them in the 2021 NBA Playoffs, the Phoenix Suns.

Of course, preseason games don’t really matter as the only thing that matters is the players getting rounded into shape for the season. While the outcome of the game does not really matter, the individual performances do.

Carmelo Anthony is making his Lakers debut in the preseason game against the Suns while LeBron James and Russell Westbrook will not be playing. Anthony Davis will be playing, albeit in a minimal role.

While the preseason games may not count you can still make some money betting for (or against) the Lakers.

Lakers vs. Suns odds, spread, over/under and prediction:

According to WynnBET, the Los Angeles Lakers are one-point underdogs against the Suns, essentially making this a pick ’em game. That is evident from the moneyline odds, as both the Suns and the Lakers are sitting at -110 to win outright.

The over/under for the game has been placed at 218.5 points with both the over and the under having the same juice attached. As far as the spread is concerned, Lakers +1 has more juice, coming in at -115 whereas the Suns -1 is at -105.

It can be hard to predict these preseason games and ultimately I am going to bank on what I saw against the Nets. The Lakers’ rotation players will get some playing time in this one but most of the second half is going to go to training camp signings that will not even make the roster.

The most important thing here for the Lakers is keeping everyone fresh and slowly easing into the season. The age of the team, while helpful in the regular season, is not going to result in preseason wins.

I am taking Suns -1 and under 218.5 points. The final score of this preseason matchup will be Suns 108, Lakers 102.

What channel is the Lakers game on?

If you do not have NBA TV then you are going to have to watch this game on Spectrum SportsNet, the typical in-market channel for Lakers games when they are not nationally televised. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m. PST.

Lakers next game and schedule:

The Los Angeles Lakers stay on the road and take on the Golden State Warriors on Friday at 8:00 p.m. PST. In total, the Lakers have six preseason games and follow the Warriors preseason game with another matchup against the Suns, another matchup against the Warriors and then a concluding game against the Sacramento Kings.
