Poole College Celebrates Our Faculty and Staff Accomplishments from September

The monthly accomplishments series celebrates the achievements of our faculty and staff in and outside of the Poole College of Management.

  • Joseph Brazel, professor of accounting, was awarded the Best Paper Award at the 11th annual European Audit Research Network Symposium from Sept. 10-11.
  • Beth Shepherd, director of instructional design, and Heidi Echols, instructional designer, were selected to give an online co-presentation for the Online Learning Consortium (OLC) Accelerate Conference September 20th, 2021. They discussed the “10 Ways to Improve Student Navigation in Your LMS Course”. 
  • On Sept. 9, Rob Handfield, professor of operations and supply chain management, was the opening keynote speaker at the SLAS Americas Sample Management Symposium. 
  • Maggie Merry, assistant dean of finance and administration, was named chair-elect for the Enterprise Applications Committee at NC State. This committee provides guidance for major applications and tools that affect key university business processes.
  • On Sept. 30, Scott Showalter, director of the Jenkins Master of Accounting Program, made a presentation during the American Accounting Association Webinar Series on accounting research and education about “Stories From the Trenches; Moving to a STEM Degree Program”.
  • Bonnie Hancock, executive director of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) initiative, was elected chair of the board of the National Association of Corporate Directors-Research Triangle Chapter effective Jan. 1, 2022.
  • At the NCACPA 2021 Business & Industry Fall conference in Asheville, NC, Chris McKittrick, lecturer in accounting, gave a presentation titled “Tales of Fraud – How Did That Happen?”.
  • Ayo Agunbiade, senior academic advisor, has recently earned his official Strengths Coaching Certification.
