Lane Kiffin knows a big quarterback when he sees one, and that’s exactly what Ole Miss must contend with this week in Arkansas QB K.J. Jefferson.

The Rebels and Razorbacks will meet at at 11 a.m. local time on ESPN on Saturday.

“The size is crazy how big he is,” Kiffin said on the SEC coaches media teleconference. “Maybe Cam (Newton) was that big at one point, I don’t know. It’s like a giant running back back there when he runs the ball. He has improved on some throws. He’s very dangerous. They make a lot of big plays off their run game.”

Coming off the pandemic and a bonus year of scholarships, Ole Miss’ freshmen have not contributed as the underclassmen normally do.

“I think that COVID, with all the guys coming back an extra year,” Kiffin said as the reason. “Usually those guys are gone and you have to fill those spots. I think that’s part of it.”
