Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Dean Andrews has opened up about Will Taylor's big exit plan in upcoming scenes as DI Malone's death comes back to haunt him.

Last year, Will reburied Malone's body on Home Farm land hoping to keep the secret from everyone – though Priya Kotecha (Fiona Wade) and Ellis Chapman's (Aaron Anthony) plans to hold a survival-themed event on the land threatens everything.

After Kim Tate (Claire King) agrees to let the event go ahead, Will panics, Dean explaining that his character had thought the whole nightmare was (literally) buried.

"Once he got it out of the way and a few weeks had passed, Will started to get back to normal life," he said. "But obviously with Priya and Ellis wanting to host this event, it's brought it all back.

"Will probably realises now how fragile his position is. Kim obviously doesn't know the full story and she's overruled him over the location of the event, so at the moment he's a very worried man.

"He's just making any excuses that he can find to stop the event from being hosted there – the usual when someone's trying to cover their back!

"Kim gets a little inkling about why Will is being so perturbed. There's something running through her mind about the way he's behaving."

Will eventually reveals the truth to Kim, the star revealing that Kim doesn't necessarily get him to confess: "I think the situation just gets to such a place where he needs to come clean because Kim can reverse that situation.

"He hopes she'll do that once she's in receipt of the info. He feels like they're a good partnership and she'll understand. So he confesses to get him out of it.

"I feel like Will does trust Kim and he hopes that she understands. He's in a position he doesn't really want to be in."

Of course, fans will know that Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) killed Malone in self-defence last year – but would Will be willing to take the rap for his daughter?

"Of course, all that he keeps saying to Dawn is that the only thing that matters to him is her and Lucas," Dean said. "Obviously he does care about Kim as well, but they're his priority. He's let his daughter down in the past and wouldn't want to let her down again."

Will confesses to Dawn and Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) about the situation, the two suggesting he "run for the hills".

"He says he'll take the rap for it, so they're not in the frame. He goes off to France," Dean admitted.

The star added that Will doesn't really have a plan and is "just winging it", though teased a possible return down the line.

"I think he just wants some time to pass before the dust has settled. He'd come back once he's not in receipt of any knowledge that the police are after him!"

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Thursday, October 14 at 7pm and 8pm on ITV.
