Idaho’s lieutenant governor issues vaccine mandate ban while governor is out of the state

Idaho Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin issued an executive order banning vaccine mandates and requiring coronavirus testing in schools -- all while the governor was out of town on Tuesday.

Gov. Brad Little immediately responded saying he would “rescind” any executive orders made while he is out of the state on business.

McGeachin also reportedly attempted to send National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border.

He is expected back in the state on Wednesday.

Gov. Little said, “I am in Texas performing my duties as the duly elected governor of Idaho, and I have not authorized the Lt. Governor to act on my behalf.”

In Idaho, the governor and lieutenant governor don’t run on the same ticket and McGeachin and Little have previously butted heads.

She is also running for governor in 2022.
