It looks as though Ridley Scott's “House Of Gucci” and Guillermo del Toro's “Nightmare Alley” will world premiere to members of the Academy at the newly unveiled Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles.

So, quite literally, the first people who will be watching these two much-anticipated films will be the ones who vote for Oscars. What an unusual way to launch a movie, but one which, if successful, could convince others to go the same route in the near future.

As per Variety:

“The museum is quickly becoming the hottest event space in the city. WIF will hold its annual awards gala there next week followed by the premieres of “House of Gucci,” Ridley Scott’s drama starring Lady Gaga, and Guillermo del Toro’s “Nightmare Alley.”

MGM has decided to skip all festivals this year with ‘Gucci’ and Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Licorice Pizza” (although I’m hearing PTA is setting up a mini-tour to bring his film to numerous different cities for advanced screenings in November.

A real shame that “House of Gucci” didn’t world premiere at the Rome Film Festival, who announced their lineup today. That could have been quite something given the Italian roots of the film.
