Hosts of Audacy Sports' The Daily Tip, Michael Jenkins and Chelsa Messinger, dug into the numbers and found some reasons to believe the Cardinals can upset the Dodgers. It likely will be on the shoulders of the 40-year-old who still has one of the best curve balls in the game.

Jenkins points out the "remarkable" fact that Wainwright's ERA over the last five seasons has dropped each and every year. That just doesn't happen in today's game built around the velocity and launch angles of 20-something-year-olds.

Wainwright is known for rising to the occasion in big games and in big moments. He owns an enviable 28-15 record with a 2.89 ERA in his postseason career. He's been defying his age for multiple seasons now and may just shock the baseball world again.

“If you buy into the fact that you’re old, then you are,” he said. “I don’t still try to touch the ceiling in the weight room every single day like I used to, but occasionally you need to do that to keep yourself young. It’s that fine line of staying young but also staying smart, trying to balance that.”
