This Sabres Prospect Has Been Super Impressive So Far

The Buffalo Sabres have one preseason game left in 2021 -- this Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings at KeyBank Center.

The Sabres final roster for the regular season has not been set yet, and it will be interesting to see how things shake out since Buffalo has a few young prospects that are making a serious push to make the opening night roster.

One of them is 2020 second-round draft pick, John-Jason Peterka, more commonly known as J-J Peterka.

The German-born forward signed his three-year entry level deal this past June with thee Sabres and has been one of the Sabres best players this preseason. Peterka has two goals and three points in four games this preseason and along with Jack Quinn and Brett Murray, was not sent down to Rochester yet.

Peterka's strong play in camp and the preseason might mean he makes the opening night roster at just 19 years old, which would be incredible, considering he was technically a second-round pick.

Peterka is a good skater, who stays low to the ice and has a great shot, which usually has the space to score based on Peterka's natural instincts. His well-rounded offensive game is desperately needed on the Sabres and at worst he starts in Rochester and excels in the AHL; but chances are it won't be long before he's a full-time Sabre.

Peterka was projected to be a first-round pick in 2020, but slipped to the second round, which general manager Kevyn Adams loved (the Sabres traded up to 34 to draft Peterka). It looks like the Sabres have a player for years to come.
