Jude Bellingham has made immense strides for a player his age in the world of football. At just 18 years of age, he has cemented himself as one of Borussia Dortmund’s most influential players.

Borussia Dortmund always seems to have another young star on the brink of becoming the next football phenomenon. But even by their very high standards, BVB have managed to discover a very special player in Bellingham. In a video correlated to the launch of FIFA 22, Jude gave viewers a taste of what it means to play for Die Schwarzgelben, and why it is so important for his integration to reach beyond the club itself and into the community it represents:

Dortmund represents a passion in the world of football. The culture feels very different to what I’m used to and where I’m from, but I think I’ve embraced that just as much as the football. I want to try and learn as much German as I can, I want to go out and explore and feel like I’m part of the city.

It’s very clear to most who follow the club just how well Jude has integrated into the team since his move to the Westfalenstadion from Birmingham City in the summer of 2020, but it will also make fans very happy to hear the young rising star wants to integrate at a level beyond the pitch. Getting to know the culture and community can only serve to bring him closer to the fans, and understanding what the club means to them.

Hailing from Birmingham City as he does however, Jude already has a taste for the life many in Dortmund lead – a working class existence where hard work and dedication are highly prized. Jude is quick to highlight that his experiences in the Championship and the city of Birmingham as a whole have been quick to impress the importance of these facets, which are reflected in his game:

My style of play always reflects where I’ve come from. I think it’s like a working-class style, my game is based off energy and hard work and in the Championship I learnt a lot and I feel like I matured a few years in one.”

Bellingham’s industrious play has been one of the major highlights in a Borussia Dortmund side that’s had a few wobbles already this season, and it speaks volumes about both Jude’s maturity and overall footballing ability that he is able to carry the weight of the pressure that comes with having to perform for a big club, especially in the tougher moments.
