What areas could Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold improve on through Week 4 of the 2021 season?

One couldn’t ask much more from Sam Darnold over his first four games with the Carolina Panthers. There were some major doubts surrounding the quarterback after the team gave up three draft selections to acquire him from the New York Jets, but the former first-round pick is answering his critics with some outstanding performances under center.

This has led many to believe that Darnold can hold down the position long-term. Although nothing has been decided just yet with such a small sample size.

Darnold just looks like a different player. It’s evident that being away from the Jets and ex-head coach Adam Gase is allowing him to flourish, with offensive coordinator Joe Brady scheming things up extremely well for the signal-caller.

There is a long way to go, so it’s important not to get carried away.

Darnold was always going to be a work in progress in 2021 before much more is expected in the final year of his deal. But it appears as if the Panthers have a real player on their hands through Week 4 of the campaign.

The USC product leads the league in rushing touchdowns and has completed 67.8 percent of his passes for 1,189 yards, five scores, and just three interceptions. Simply put, this is a tremendous start to Darnold’s time with the franchise.

As is the case with most players in Darnold’s situation, there are some things he could improve upon moving forward. Here are three such examples.
