Report: The Sabres may be getting closer to a Jack Eichel trade
Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) – For about a week now Jack Eichel’s new agent has been helping teams better understand his medical situation in the hopes that teams will be more willing to trade for Eichel.
According to Darren Dreger of TSN, it appears to be working. Dreger tweeted on Wednesday, “Sources say the Eichel saga may be shifting.
Ongoing discussions and additional access to Jack Eichel’s medical file has helped teams with trade interest clearly see his situation. Both sides are hopeful something can be worked out soon with one of the clubs in the mix.”
Ever since this started, we’ve known that the Sabres have wanted Peyton Krebs in any trade for Eichel with the Vegas Golden Knights. Krebs was the Golden Knights first pick in 2019 and is considered a legitimate top six center. Last season he played for the Winnipeg Ice of the WHL and had 43 points in 24 games. Reports say Vegas has not been willing to include Krebs as part of an Eichel deal.
That goes with no team has been willing to trade their top prospect for an injured Eichel. It’s been speculated that Adams has been asking for teams top two prospects along with a No. 1 pick in exchange for Eichel.
The Sabres are off on Wednesday and will be back on the ice from training camp Thursday and Friday.
