Rio Ferdinand Names Best Player In Premier League Right Now Ahead Of Kevin De Bruyne

Rio Ferdinand believes that Mohamed Salah is the best player in the Premier League right now ahead of Kevin De Bruyne.

Salah has been in scintillating form for Liverpool and has scored nine times and registered three assists in nine matches this season.

The 29­-year-old Liverpool winger showcased his brilliance in his side’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.

Salah took on the City defence and managed to pick out a superb pass to Sadio Mane, who fired Liverpool into the lead with a fine finish past Ederson.

Phil Foden pulled City back into the match with an equaliser in the 69th minute, but Salah restored Liverpool’s advantage with a magnificent solo effort.

Salah took on Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo and Aymeric Laporte with his mesmerising footwork and skill before beating Ederson with a powerful shot from his weak right foot.

Kevin De Bruyne cancelled out Salah’s equaliser in the 81st minute, but Ferdinand was left in awe at the Liverpool star’s sensational form.

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE, he said: “He’s the best player in the Premier League right now. It’s burning my chest talking like this about a Liverpool player.

“[His goal] was like being on FIFA, that chop, I’ve done that many times on FIFA where you pretend to whip it top corner and then you chop it back. Playground skills.

“Salah is scoring goals that is helping Liverpool win Premier League and Champions League titles.”

Liverpool are pushing for Salah to commit his long-term future to the club ahead of his contract expiring in 2023.

Salah, who has previously been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, is reportedly holding out for a significant pay rise.

Ferdinand admitted that he was impressed with how Liverpool came out as a “different animal” in the second half after a disappointing first-half display.

“What I like about Liverpool was they started terribly, and they reacted at half-time, came out a different animal,” he said.

“The first-half Liverpool couldn’t get out and City could have had two or three first half, I think City will be disappointed not to win and Liverpool happy with a draw.”

Liverpool will now face Watford at Vicarage Road on 16th October after the international break.
