The Brooklyn Nets, Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers all made minor moves Tuesday night involving salary dumps and future draft picks.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nets are acquiring Edmund Sumner and the Miami Heat's 2025 second round pick from the Pacers. Once the deal is finalized, Woj reports the Nets will then waive Sumner, who's already out for the season due to a knee injury.

On the other hand, the Nets are sending Sekou Doumbouya and a future second round pick to the Rockets. The pick will be unprotected in 2024 while Doumbouya will be waived by Houston, per ESPN's Tim MacMahon.

To recall, Doumbouya, along with Jahlil Okafor, was traded in September by the Detroit Pistons to the Nets in exchange for DeAndre Jordan, four second-rounders and cash considerations.

Doumbouya was the 15th overall pick by the Pistons in 2019. He was a project, to begin with, but the 6-foot-8 forward never materialized anywhere close to his potential. In two seasons for Detroit, he only averaged 5.1 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.

This flurry of silent deals doesn't make much of an impact on the Nets, basketball-wise. However, it allows them to save a serious amount of money, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

“The 2 trades will save Brooklyn $6.8M toward the luxury tax and $1.29M in salary. Total of $8.1M in savings Brooklyn recoups the 2024 2nd sent to Houston with a 2025 2nd from Indiana (via MIA) in the Sumner trade.”

The Nets have a bigger fish to try in Kyrie Irving's vaccine situation, though. As of this writing, the star point guard still hasn't changed his position against the COVID-19 vaccine.
