Girls Volleyball Scoreboard for Oct. 5: Yuleisy Alvelo’s 52 assists lead Paulo Freire past Franklin Tech on road; one game away from clinching postseason berth

On Tuesday, the Paulo Freire girls volleyball team earned a three-set sweep over Franklin Tech, 25-9, 25-12, 25-10.

The Panthers, who remain undefeated at 9-0, were led by the Alvelo sisters. Yuleisy finished the day with a massive 52 assists and added a pair of aces, while Yuleishka earned 15 kills, 24 digs, and eight aces.

Other notable performances include Natalie Acevedo, who snagged 19 kills, 18 digs, and six aces. Melissmar Matos, for her part, finished with 18 digs and two aces.

Paulo Freire has yet to lose a single set this year, taking every match of its undefeated season, 3-0. The Panthers will now welcome those same Eagles to town tomorrow at the South End Community Center with hopes of clinching a playoff berth.

The Eagles (3-5), who have dropped two of their last three games, will match up against Greenfield on Friday, Oct. 8, at 5:30 p.m.
