ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando International Airport officials say their passenger traffic seems to be rebounding from where it was last year during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to newly-released data, more than 3.5 million passengers passed through the airport in the month of August, a 210 percent increase from the same time last year.

Compared to 2019, prior to the pandemic, traffic was still down by about 15 percent, or just over 20,000 fewer passengers per day.

Domestic traffic alone jumped by nearly 200 percent in August this year compared to last, while international traffic saw an even more dramatic spike at over 1,300 percent.
However, with transatlantic service yet to fully resume, airport officials note international travel is still down significantly compared to 2019, before the pandemic.
For the entire year to-date, Orlando International has recorded more than 25.5 million total passengers, an increase of more than 70 percent from last year.
