Kylian Mbappe has had the luxury of playing under both Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain. While both managers are not necessarily regarded as PSG legends, they each have had major success in managing in other leagues.
In speaking to RMC Sport, Mbappe shared a bit about how Pochettino, Tuchel and former PSG manager Unai Emery have prepped for matches with the Ligue 1 giants. For one, he has seen that they each heavily emphasize on video analysis to truly get a sense of each opponent’s tactical style.
“Yes, he does a lot of videos,” Mbappe said. “He wants to analyze weaknesses. Tuchel was like that too. Emery too. In Paris, the coaches I had, they were all like that. You are never in the unknown when you arrive at the stadium. Afterwards, I watch the games, so I know the players. I know more or less, but I’m still learning things that are a little more specific.”
Regardless of the manager, Mbappe has had grand success in being the go-to goal-scorer for PSG. He has well shown that he does do his homework ahead of the fixtures, which has been seen in his off-ball movements in matches.
For now, Mbappe sure is aiming to do what he was not able to accomplish under Emery and Tuchel, which is to bring a Champions League title to PSG.
