Atlanta Hawks star point guard Trae Young suffered a quad injury in the preseason opener against the Miami Heat on Tuesday night. That's certainly not something Hawks fans wanted to see, especially with all the other injuries currently plaguing the roster, but Young says his injury isn nothing to worry about.

Based on Young's comments Tuesday, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him miss the remainder of the preseason, but it sounds like he should be good to go when the games start for real. The Hawks star just knows he has to be cautious:

This is the smart outlook here. While it would be great to get Young some more preseason reps ahead of the season, it's not particularly necessary. It's more important for the point guard to heal up and be ready for the games that count rather than rushing back for exhibition games.

The Hawks are trying to build on their amazing run in the playoffs last season. After firing Lloyd Pierce midseason and replacing him with Nate McMillan, Atlanta went on a tear to finish the regular season and then made it to the Eastern Conference Finals before losing to the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Hawks are running back their core from last season, but they are a little banged up as preseason games begin. In addition to Young's injury, Clint Capela, De'Andre Hunter, Kevin Huerter and Onyeka Okongwu are all on the mend. There are still a couple of weeks before the regular season starts, so hopefully the roster is more healthy by then.
