The Staatsoper Hamburg has announced a cast change for its production of Verdi’s “La Traviata.”

The company noted that Pretty Yende will replace Nadine Sierra in the title role of Violetta.

Yende recently made her role debut as Violetta at the Paris Opera and has sung the role at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo and at the Wiener Staatsoper. She is scheduled to perform the role at the Royal Opera House and the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli.

Yende will join a cast that includes Dmytro Popov as Alfredo and Andrzej Dobber as Germont. Giampaolo Bisanti conducts the revival which opens on Dec. 2 and runs through Dec. 16, 2021. A second cast will revive the production in March headed by Aida Garifullina Pavol Breslik.
