New One UI 4.0 beta brings RAM Plus, Material You themes and more

Like other makers, Samsung is busy trying to iron out all the bugs in Android 12 before releasing it as a stable update. The Korean tech giant has yet another beta version of One UI 4.0 rolling out and this one comes with some important improvements and fixes.

The update has a build version ZUJ1 and should be available to users who opted into the beta program in China, Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, the US and the UK. Owners of a Galaxy S21, S21+ or S21 Ultra in those countries should be able to download it starting today.

One new feature that caught our eye is RAM Plus – a feature that adds up to 4 GB of virtual RAM to the phone. This feature should be extended to other Galaxy phones as well. Anyway, this beat also brings performance improvements.

Another major change is that One UI 4.0 seems to have adopted the new theming engine from Android 12 (the UI color theme is automatically generated from the wallpaper you have set).

There’s more – you can now set the microphone mode for video calls. One mode boosts your voice to help it stand out against a noisy environment. Another communications upgrade is that the accuracy of the Samsung Keyboard has been improved.

A security related fix resolves an issue that occurred when closing the Secure Folder. The update contains other improvements too, though they weren’t listed in the changelog.

You should see a notification for the new update if you have signed on as a beta tester (done through the Samsung Members app). If not, you can check manually in the Settings menu.
