The Batman Star Andy Serkis Calls Film a Masterpiece

Fans have been very excited about Matt Reeves' The Batman as it will feature the director's new different take on the Caped Crusader, with Robert Pattinson taking the role. After the first trailer was released last year, there have been assumptions that the film might be great or become one of the best comic book movies just based on what was shown in the footage.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Andy Serkis, who plays Alfred in the film and directed the current box office hit Venom: Let There Be Carnage, was asked about his experience playing Alfred in the film. He was tight-lipped on his response, but he managed to up our expectations.

He said, "I'll tell you that it was fantastic being reunited with Matt Reeves, [producer] Dylan Clark and [VFX supervisor] Dan Lemmon from the Apes films. We had such a great time making it, and when it eventually comes to the screen, Matt Reeves will have made another masterpiece film because he's so super invested in it. But yeah, I've been forbidden, expressly forbidden, to talk about Alfred."

The actor called the film a "masterpiece" which is a strong hyperbole, but it should make us excited about the quality of the film. Although since he is involved in the film and friends with the director, of course, he would praise it and say nothing but great things about it. But then he seems to be enthusiastic about his experience in the film. He has also worked with Reeves so many times and, perhaps, he admires his artistic work which is why they've worked together so many times.

It is exciting to hear that the film might end up as a "masterpiece" and, based on what we've seen in the footage that was released, there is a reason to believe that it might be the case. Of course, there is a possibility that it will be the opposite. We won't find out until we see it. Fortunately, we will be able to get another look at the film during the DC FanDome event this coming October 16.

The Batman is set to be released in theaters on March 4, 2022.
