Rookie Quarterbacks have a history of not finding much success in their first year. Zach Wilson was certainly an example of that after a rough first three weeks against NFL competition which was a far cry from what he was facing at BYU. Wilson finally got in the win column after the Jets’ Week 4 win over the Tennessee Titans in OT. Wilson was extremely impressive and lit up one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. The development of the Jets rookie QB might lead him to become the best Jets QB since HOF legend Joe Namath.

  • Zach Wilson leads the NFL in INT (8) and 2nd in SK in 2021
  • Quinnen & Quincy Williams are the only siblings with 1+ SK each during 1 GP for the same team since SK tracked in 1982
  • The Jets had more TDs (3) in Week 4 than the previous 3 games combined (2)
  • Jets drafted a QB & WR in the 1st 2 rounds of the NFL draft for the 1st time since 1967

Odds vs. TEN: NYJ +220 (Spread +5.5)

ZACH WILSON CAN BE THE BEST JETS QB SINCE JOE NAMATH

COLORS KEY | FULL JETS OUTLOOK

Recent history has not been kind to the New York Jets at Quarterback. Geno Smith, Mark Sanchez, and Sam Darnold are some of the last few starting QB’s for the team, with the latter finding newfound success in Carolina. If Zach Wilson plays like he did Week 4, in which he lit up a Tennessee Titans secondary, he could easily become the best Quarterback the Jets have had since Joe Namath.

The rookie QB has plenty of talent after being the second pick in the 2021 NFL draft. Plus the bar to be the best Jets QB since Broadway Joe isn’t very high as Chad Pennington is currently considered such and never recorded over 3,400 PASS YDS during a single season with NYJ. Wilson has the rare ability to improvise on the fly which sparked the magical plays that led to his first career win. Hopefully the rookie QB does not end up like the past few Jets QB’s and cements his own legacy in the NFL.
