In the latest TV show ratings, NBC’s The Voice this Monday drew 7.2 million total viewers and a 0.9 rating, up in audience but down a tick in the demo week-to-week yet still leading the night in the latter measure (read recap).
Ordinary Joe then did 2.8 mil and a 0.4, adding eyeballs in Week 3 while stabilizing in the demo.
Over on CBS, The Neighborhood (5.3 mil/0.6), Bob Hearts Abishola (5 mil/0.5), NCIS (7.6 mil/0.6) and NCIS: Hawai’i (5.4 mil/0.4) all dipped a bit, though NCIS proper still copped Monday’s biggest audience.
Elsewhere:
FOX | 9-1-1 (5 mil/0.8, read recap) and The Big Leap (1.4 mil/0.2) were both steady.
ABC | Dancing With the Stars (4.8 mil/0.8, read recap) ticked up in the demo, while The Good Doctor (3.8 mil/0.4) was steady.
THE CW | Roswell NM (480K/0.1) was steady.

The Live+Same Day numbers reported in our ratings column do not reflect a show’s overall performance, given the increased use of delayed playback via DVR and streaming platforms, plus out-of-home viewing. These numbers (Nielsen fast nationals, unless denoted as finals) instead aim to simply illustrate trends or superlatives. If Happy Fun Ball begins to smoke, seek shelter and cover head.
NCIS not doing so hot. Only just holding most viewers.
That “Only holding most viewers” counts for a lot!! Despite the change in day and time NCIS still is holding the #1 total viewership for broadcast scripted shows consistently this Season. Live +overnight ratings still comprise the single highest source of revenue from direct ad $–but every year broadcasters get a growing percentage of revenue from other sources. NCIS is a big money-maker for CBS in streaming across multi-platforms ,national and international syndication,etc..
Overall viewers are great, but demo is what advertisers care about and NCIS is very average in that area.
Demo is the primary basis advertisers care about–true. However,as I already stated broadcasters are increasingly relying on other revenue besides ad $ as the live +overnights decrease across the board for all broadcast scripted shows.
It depends on both which demo you are looking at and the network. CBS skews older and places more emphasis on total viewers. If you look at sales demo for 25-54 instead of 18-49, then the demo for NCIS was 1.08.
And then there’s those who think Nielsen ratings are no longer an accurate measure of viewing
It’s true that Advertisers base how much they will pay for a show based on the Demo–however,as already noted broadcasters have other sources of revenue which have increased in importance source as syndication and multi-platform streaming. Each network has it’s own ranking of how valuable a show is to it as vs it’s other shows.A network is not going to cancel it’s #1 comedy or drama because there are other comedies or dramas on other networks with higher ratings.
Yeah, it’s just been the most watched scripted show so far. The show is doing just fine, thank you. Ratings overall for all broadcast isn’t doing so hot, however, in the fractured viewing era.
The endless choice of platforms to watch these shows means folk feel no pressure to watch live anymore.
If people are still watching a show through some kind of outlet that provides revenue to the broadcast network or the studio that produces it–on demand or streaming services, then these previously untenable demo numbers are just fine. If those numbers aren’t there, then the show is a goner. It all has to add up–broadcast network, on demand, a myriad of streaming outlets, international sales/rights, syndication, DVD/blue ray sales–for a show to be profitable and justify its continued production.
NCIS is Alive and Well..Thank You very much.
Considering the numbers for the other sub par series.
The addition of Mark’s wife, Pam, was a nice move.
NCIS is the comfort food of TV
Sorry-The Big Leap fans–enjoy it while you can. The hope that episode #3s ratings and viewers would get a significant boost because it was not aired a week ahead simply did not pan out.
This is a shame. The Big Leap is my favorite new show of the season so far. I hope Fox at least let’s it run for the entire season.
I am enjoying big leap. I hope it gets better ratings. It’s a gem of a show.
It’s understandable that the PTB might have thought Monday nights are a big night for The Voice and DWTS so putting a musical competition-type show after their #1 ranking show (911) would draw the audience—unfortunately, the vast majority of 911 viewers don’t seem interested and moving TBL to another timeslot doesn’t seem an option as the schedule’s filled.
So the PTB went for TBL which may be DOA? ;-)
I just caught up on this show and love it. Best new show of the season so far (for the five broadcast networks, not including cable/premium/streaming as there are too many I haven’t had a chance to check out yet).
Disney+ should pick it up.
They won’t. There’s gay people and a sex worker
Yep. TBL is DOA.
It’s getting a little difficult to remember which Ordinary story is which, especially when Joe isn’t in the scene. And I don’t think I like the blonde girl in any of the universes.
Rocker Joe is easy to distinguish because of the red palette but Nurse Joe and Cop Joe colors kind of blend together. And yes, I don’t know what storyline we’re in when he isn’t in the scene. At the end of the 9/11 episode, there was a scene where Amy and Diaz got into a room together. I have no clue if it was the Nurse or Cop story!
It was the cop story. Diaz was shot in the nurse story.
yes, you need a pen and paper while you watch this one.
The blonde is my future ex-wife
I think Hawai’i will adjust up in the finals. It seems stable with viewers so probably is like a 0.44 or something.
Yes, Ordinary Joe! I think I’m starting to like Nurse Joe the best out of the 3 Joe’s. His bond with his son, Christopher, is just so endearing. And I like that he and Jenny are getting closer. By the way, have we seen his Uncle Frank in this timeline? I don’t think we have. I wonder why.
CBS Mondays not looking good
I’m holding out hope for The Big Leap. By far my favorite this year. People need to watch. So many great characters.
Right on, Gerald…some viewers celebrate the mundane, but some of us appreciate the fresh. And both are ok.
I love TBL and all its complicated characters. On the other hand, I don’t care how many storylines they give OJ, I find them all boring. But that’s probably because I don’t think Wolk is a very interesting actor. I also don’t buy that he has the kind of voice that would engender such a big following.
The only way NCIS Hawaii is to survive is by following the mother ship. The ratings will dip a bit more and stabilize. But, it was 1 week and out for me. Lachey isn’t in way strong enough to carry this show and the other characters are poorly written and not compelling. I saw a Hawaii 5-0 repeat a few weeks ago, guest starring Nazeen Contractor as a NCIS agent working with the team. Wow, she would have been a great lead; she was dynamite in that guesting gig. Left a great impression in a pretty well written episode of 5-0.
Maybe they could’ve gotten Priyanka Chopra to head up the team. Or not!
NCIS Hawaii is awful
I almost didn’t watch Ordinary Joe a chance because it seemed like it would be to difficult to follow. It’s not and the show is growing on me. I hope it stays on air. The Big Leap is a pleasant surprise as well. Also thought I would not like it, but it’s fast-paced and I love all the characters. I am so happy to find a show that is not: a police, medical or firefighter show, a game show or a reality show! I’m so bored with the same old things.
I love Ordinary Joe. I rewatch every episode so I am clear on everything. I hope this show makes it!
