Bayern Munich granted permission for capacity crowds at Allianz Arena

Bayern Munich will welcome a full capacity crowd to the Allianz Arena in their next home game on 23 October for the first time since before the coronavirus pandemic took hold in March 2020.

Bayern finished that campaign behind closed doors and played the majority of last season still without fans until 250 were allowed to attend the final game in May.

Crowds at the Allianz Arena so far this season have been capped at 25,000 fans - a third of the stadium’s full capacity. But with restrictions now further relaxing, Bayern have announced that there will be no limit when Hoffenheim visit in the Bundesliga later this month.

The decision from the Bavarian state government also means that no masks or social distancing will be required, while the ban on serving alcohol is also over.

However, there are still strict guidelines that must be adhered to in order for fans to gain entry.

Anyone wishing to attend must abide by the ‘3G-Plus’ rule, which requires anyone attending the game to be fully vaccinated, have recovered, or able to present a negative PCR test taken within the previous 48 hours. There are exemptions for pre-school children or those getting regularly tested at school.

“We’re delighted, especially for our fans, that full spectator capacity is now once again permitted in our Allianz Arena,” said Bayern vice-chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen.

“We will carefully take all necessary precautions to continue to ensure the highest level of safety and the health of spectators,” he added.

Bayern fans will have to wait a little longer than just the duration of the international break to get back into the Allianz Arena at full capacity. The club’s next two games, against Bayer Leverkusen on 17 October and against Benfica on 20 October, are both away from home.

Bayern actually lost their last home game, a shock defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend, with visiting goalkeeper Kevin Trapp in top form that afternoon.
