Wale & J. Cole Get Colorful In New Q-Tip Inspired Video For 'Poke It Out'

Wale and J. Cole have officially reunited --- giving hip hop fans the collaboration they've been waiting years to experience.

After releasing his single "Poke It Out" from his upcoming album, Folarin II, Wale released the colorful visuals for the for his Q-Tip inspired track featuring the Dreamville king on Tuesday. In true Wale fashion, the video pays homage to beautiful, Black women while the nostalgic production is a classic sample from J. Dillla's work on Q-Tip's 1999 chart topping banger "Vivrant Thing".

This isn't Wale and Cole's first time working together. Both rappers officially entered into the hip hop game around the same time, back in the late 2000's; and both were once credited for bring the original hip hop sound back on the mainstream airwaves. "Poke It Out" marks the first collaboration between the two since “My Boy (Freestyle)” in 2018.

The long-awaited collaboration comes just days after the "Matrimony" singer announced his seventh studio album, Folarin II --- the sequel to his 2012 album Folarin. The album also acts as a follow-up to the DMV native's 2019 album Wow...That's Crazy which became his fourth Top 10 entry on the Billboard 200. Back in August, Wale took to social media to boast about his status as a 14-year veteran in the Hip Hop game, tweeting:

“When I say I’m one of the greatest rappers of all time, I mean it with all my heart. I’ve put out more QUALITY music than most. My deep cuts are crazy. My singles all got plaques. Decade plus. THAT is why I’m heavy on the gratitude.”
