Dad's Unusual Method of Hanging His Baby on a Chair Divides Opinion

A dad's hilarious method of hanging his daughter on the back of a chair, while in a sling, has divided opinion online.

Any parent knows babies will sleep practically anywhere, but you might trigger a screaming match if you wake them prematurely.

That seemed to be the dilemma facing one man, who came up with ingenious idea of letting his daughter hang from the back of the seat while she finished her nap.

Mom Diamond Holman shared a clip to her TikTok account, @cinderrastathebrand, on Sunday, joking: "My husband decided to hang our baby on the back of the chair."

The video kicks in as he's mid-sentence, as he claimed "she coolin."

In the background, Holman asks: "Why were you just hanging her up, come on fathers be doing anything."

To which her husband replies: "She cool, she asleep, what you mean?"

The clip, which can be seen here, amassed more than 15 million views, and was also shared across Twitter, where it amassed more than one million views.

Numerous people claimed the position was dangerous, prompting Holman, thought to be from Washington D.C., to share a follow up clip, where she addressed trolls.

She said: "Baby why the people so concerned? Tell them you weren't up there for that long, right?

"People act like parenting is supposed to be so uptight, like look mind your business. We good everywhere. We got this s***, on lock.

"You're absolutely right, why would we leave her up there. No she's good, and even if I did leave her up there, I would be right beside her, while she's hanging."

And she also shared an adorable montage of her husband with their little girl, which she captioned: "What a Great Father. He is very present and loves his daughter."

On Monday, she also uploaded a tongue-in-cheek tutorial, explaining exactly how to copy her husband's move, using a toy in a sling.

She says: "Go ahead and unfasten the straps on the side, loosen it at the top, go ahead and take her off from around your neck and just pop that baby right on down. Now the baby's hanging."

Despite Holman's assurances, people were still worried about the little girl, as Kaÿa asked: "What if the baby moves and the chair tilts back ???"

Buhle wrote: "All her body weight is sitting in that baby's groin and armpits. When she's on your body the weight is distributed on your body as well which makes it more comfortable for baby. This is really not it."

EbonyNailedIt joked: "It's like they responsible but irresponsible at the same time."

Mrs Tash J commented: "Omg I'm crying. I want to know what made him look at the chair and be like O.K. this is a good place for her."

Jacquelyn Smith said: "It's the fact she is as comfortable as hell."

While Lynee_Monae noted: "Hanging there like ya'll just picked her up from the dry cleaners."

Agreeing, Mari added: "Hung that baby like a coat."

Newsweek reached out to Holman for comment.
