Manchester United legend and famed soccer pundit Rio Ferdinand doesn’t think fans should be calling for the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Red Devils had a remarkable start this season with Cristiano Ronaldo being the cherry on top. However, Manchester United seemed to have lost its rhythm in recent games, losing three of their last five games.
Weighing in on Manchester United’s poor streak, Rio Ferdinand reckoned that his former club may have not done well in the last few matches but is still presenting a strong case for winning the title this season.
“It’s now three losses in five, drawn one and won one, so it’s not a great vein of form that they’re in,” Ferdinand told FIVE. “But Man United are good enough, they’ve got good enough players, great depth, they need to start really getting the performances in and the results to turn things around.”
Just like with other clubs, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was blamed by fans. But for Ferdinand, it’s not yet time to axe the Norwegian.
“One thing I would say – it’s not the time to panic,” the former Manchester United defender pointed out. “This isn’t a time to start calling for Ole’s head etc. Because they are still within touching distance at the top, they’ve still got an opportunity to mount a threat and contend for the league.”
“But they have to really start getting some consistency and getting some form back,” he added.
Manchester United is currently enjoying a two-week break and will be visiting Leicester City on Oct. 16.
