Justin Herbert, Austin Ekeler spark Los Angeles Chargers' win over Las Vegas Raiders on MNF

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The Las Vegas Raiders fell from the ranks of unbeaten Monday night.  

The Raiders, off to a 3-0 start for the first time in almost two decades, lost to the Los Angeles Chargers 28-14 at SoFi Stadium. 

The Arizona Cardinals (4-0) are now the only undefeated team in the NFL. 

The first half on "Monday Night Football" was beyond abysmal for the Raiders (3-1), who managed to get just one first down and generated 51 total yards in offense. By comparison, the Chargers had 15 first downs and 248 yards. 

Trailing 21-0 at halftime, the Raiders pulled within 21-14 in the third quarter on two touchdown passes from quarterback Derek Carr, but could get no closer.

The Raiders were off to their first 3-0 start since the 2002 season, when they represented the AFC in the Super Bowl. But even before they faced the Chargers, they faced understandable skepticism. After all, the Raiders had survived close calls with overtime victories against the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins, and their other victory came against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who like the Miami Dolphins are 1-3. 

The Chargers (3-1) looked like far superior competition, and with the victory on Monday night moved into a three-way tie atop the AFC West with the Raiders and Denver Broncos. 

In the first half, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert passed for three touchdowns and completed 20 of 25 passes for 175 yards. By comparison, Carr threw for 52 yards on 7-for-13 passing.
