Update (10/04/21, 7:54 PM ET) - Facebook and Oculus have both announced that their services have been restored, likely meaning an end to the FIFA Mobile login troubles in short order.

"To the huge community of people and businesses around the world who depend on us: we're sorry," read a follow-up tweet from Facebook. "We’ve been working hard to restore access to our apps and services and are happy to report they are coming back online now. Thank you for bearing with us."

Oculus had a similar message announcing that services were being restored. The official FIFA Mobile Twitter account has yet to comment on the restoration of services; we'll continue to monitor the situation and update our article when necessary.

Our original story continues below.

FIFA Mobile and Oculus are currently down due to a Facebook outage, impacting the ability of people to play games on VR, PC, and mobile devices.

The live services for the FIFA games have had steady growth, but they've also had their fair share of outages. Oculus, too, has had impressive sales with its new Quest 2 headset. Unfortunately, fans of FIFA and VR games are finding it difficult to do much of anything right now -- and it all comes down to problems with Facebook.

Why the Facebook Outage is Causing Issues for FIFA Mobile and Oculus

A Facebook outage that began earlier today has rendered the social media site totally unusable. Unfortunately, Facebook's popularity also means that FIFA Mobile and Oculus are having issues. Some FIFA Mobile players who have linked their accounts to Facebook are finding that they are totally unable to log in.

"We're aware that accounts linked to Facebook may be encountering issues with logging in," read a tweet the game's official account. "This is due to an outage at Facebook and we hope they resolve it shortly. Thanks for your patience."

As best as we can tell, other FIFA players on mobile devices can log in as long as they haven't linked their account. Oculus players, however, aren't so lucky.

"We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products," read a tweet from Oculus. "We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience."

Several Oculus owners on Reddit are reporting that the Facebook outage has rendered them totally unable to play games. A Facebook login is mandatory to use modern Oculus devices, although researches have had some success with bypassing it entirely.

The Facebook outage is still ongoing at the time of writing. We'll update this article when more substantial details on the problem emerge.
