On Oct. 2, Governor Jared Polis amended and extended an Executive Order related to the state’s disaster recovery efforts and current status from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The amendments removed provisions related to the Department of Motor Vehicles and removed provisions related to rental assistance for residential tenants.

Other amendments suspended certain State Personnel Board Rules to enable the State to expedite the pre-disciplinary process for State certified employees who are out of compliance with the State’s COVID-19 vaccination requirements. This includes agency staff members and other state employees that interact with vulnerable populations and populations living in congregate living settings,

The governor directed the Colorado Department of Education to share certain student data with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) to aid CDPHE in protecting the health and safety of the state’s student population in the wake of rising cases of COVID-19 in Colorado schools.

According to the executive order, more than 7,000 Coloradans have died of COVID-19, and hundreds of thousands have been sick from COVID, so far during the pandemic. Contrary to the wishful thinking of a large swath of residents, the pandemic is not yet over, and the best way to protect the population from the impacts of COVID-19 is to get vaccinated.
