Allen Iverson has been one of the most supportive former NBA players around the game of basketball since retiring in 2013. He’s had plenty of hugs, conversations and words of praise for the stars of today.
One of those players is Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard, who Iverson has been a fan of for some time. Iverson and former NBA veteran Al Harrington recently joined Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks for an interview and the Hall of Fame guard talked about some of his favorite players today and had nothing but positive things to say about Lillard.
Often regarded as a killer during his playing days, Iverson was asked his top-5 killers today and included Lillard.
The first four players on Iverson’s list were Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, James Harden and Bradley Beal. When thinking about the fifth spot, he smiled and proclaimed, “Dame.”
“Certified,” a cheesing Iverson said.
“He’s a monster with it,” Iverson said when asked to expound on picking Lillard. “Steph (Stephen Curry) is bad as hell, but Dame is just a rude (expletive). He’s just rude, he’s just disrespectful. He does anything. (He) passes halfcourt and let it fly, buzzer-beaters. No fear.”
You can watch the Iverson clip below. As a warning, the video contains explicit language.
It’s not surprising to hear this type of praise of Lillard from Iverson considering how similar they are as offensive weapons. Lillard has also talked about meeting Iverson, who he considers an idol, in the past.
