Amal Clooney’s red carpet appearances are few and far between. As a human rights lawyer and mother to two small children, Clooney doesn’t have time to attend every opening or party. Still, she makes the most of every night out, and yesterday at the premiere of husband George’s latest film, The Tender Bar, she brought a bit of glamour to the proceedings. Dressed in a black 16 Arlington dress detailed with abstract silver appliqué, Clooney was in her element.

The midi-length dress was ladylike, but the cutouts at the waist and asymmetrical hemline kept things modern. Add on a pair of strappy silver sandals and chandelier earrings from the Reflection de Cartier collection, and you have a striking head-to-toe look. With George in all-black suiting by Giorgio Armani, the perennially stylish couple matched perfectly. Together at a public event for the first time since 2019’s London premiere of Catch-22, the miniseries adaptation of Joseph Heller’s seminal novel that George produced and directed, the night was a triumphant return to the red carpet.

Still, it may be a while before we see them out on the town again. Both Clooneys have busy 2021 schedules. In September, Amal was appointed special advisor on the Darfur region of Sudan at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. George, meanwhile, is set to bring a little levity to the big screen, reuniting with frequent collaborator Julia Roberts for the upcoming rom-com Ticket to Paradise
