Dustin Poirier says Charles Oliveira fight at UFC 269 is ‘signed, sealed, delivered’

Charles Oliveira vs. Dustin Poirier at UFC 269 edges closer and closer to becoming a reality.

An Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight title fight pitting Charles Oliveira vs. Dustin Poirier is nearly a done deal for UFC 269.

Oliveira vs. Poirier is expected to headline UFC 269, which will take place on Sat., Dec. 11, 2021, streaming online via ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV). No location or venue has officially been confirmed by the promotion. However, Poirier suggest on social media that he had signed his contract to fight the reigning UFC Lightweight champion in December.

“Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” Poirier tweeted on Sunday night.

Poirier’s reps subsequently confirmed to ESPN that Poirier had agreed to the UFC title fight at the end of the year.

Poirier (28-6-0-1) defended his No. 1 contender position by defeating rival Conor McGregor via technical knockout (watch the leg break) at UFC 264 in July. “The Diamond” previously captured UFC’s interim Lightweight championship in 2019 by defeating former UFC Featherweight champion, Max Holloway. In his subsequent fight, Poirier unsuccessfully challenged retired UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for the undisputed crown.

Oliveira (31-8-0-1) is riding a nine-fight win streak in UFC punctuated by a win over Michael Chandler (watch highlights) at UFC 262 to capture UFC’s 155-pound title. The record-holder for most UFC finishes (17) and most submission wins in UFC history (14) has recent wins over Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee.
