The Kansas City Chiefs got back into the win column on Sunday, defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 42-30. It was important for Andy Reid and Co. to build some momentum heading into Week 5, as they play host to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on "Sunday Night Football". The Chiefs could also be debuting a new toy this upcoming week.
Last week, the Chiefs signed recently reinstated wide receiver Josh Gordon, and coach Reid said on Monday that he could suit up for his new team this week.
"I'm just gonna play it by ear and see how he feels," Reid said, via Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star. "Really, it's more of a comfort thing with the offense. I don't want to put him in a bad situation out there."
The Chiefs hope the previously troubled wideout has not only turned over a new leaf, but also that he will come in and establish himself as a true No. 2 wide receiver for Patrick Mahomes. Gordon was suspended in December 2019 for violating the league's substance abuse and performance-enhancing drug policies -- his fifth violation of the league's drug policy -- when he was a member of the Seattle Seahawks.
Gordon has played a full 16-game season just once, as a rookie with the Cleveland Browns in 2012. His second season in the NFL was special, as he caught 87 passes for a league-leading 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns in just 14 games. He was never able to build off of that All-Pro campaign, however, as off-field issues derailed his career. Now 30, he gets another chance at football.
