Poznan Opera Names New Music Director

Poznań’s Teatr Wielki has named Italian conductor Marco Guidarini Music Director.

The conductor will lead and focus on the Italian opera repertoire, with a specific emphasis on the works of Verdi.

Guidarini recently served as the Music Director at the Opera de Nice between 2001 and 2009. He was also the Artistic Director of Nice Festival de Musique Sacré from 2004 to 2009. 

He has conducted at the Teatro alla Scala, Opera Australia, and Metropolitan Opera and is a regular at the Canadian Opera Company. From 2014 he has been a Guest conductor for the Italian and French repertoire at the Prague State Opera and is currently Music Director of the Mitteleuropa Orchestra, in northern Italy.

He is the founder of the renowned Apostrophe Ensemble and is Artistic Director of the Bellini Belcanto Competition.

His operatic repertoire includes 75 works that range from Mozart, Verdian, and Puccini to Debussy and Berg.
