Tom Brady made his official return to New England on Sunday as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pulled off a 19-17 nailbiter win over the Patriots. However, rookie quarterback Mac Jones certainly held his own against the GOAT, proving that he has what it takes to compete at the highest level, despite the loss.

The Patriots QB spoke after the game and revealed what Brady said to him after their epic battle. Via NBC Sports Boston:

“(Brady) just told me to keep my head up and keep working.”

Short but sweet. On the night, Jones completed 31 of 40 passes for two touchdowns and 275 yards. His numbers were actually far better than Brady's, but he did get sacked four times and intercepted once. Nevertheless, he kept the Patriots in the game.

Jones and New England are 1-3 though and he realizes that his performances need to be better in order to get this team back on track:

“I think just coming in and learning from a lot of the older guys, I have a long way to go, and I just try to put my best foot forward every day, and we all want to win. So it sucks right now, but I think we have to take it for a positive and just trust our leaders,” Jones said.

Surely Tom Brady was impressed with the Patriots and Mac Jones and realizes that the former Alabama standout likely has a bright future. But, TB12 got the last laugh in his homecoming.
