NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — In some of his first extended comments since resigning, former Governor Andrew Cuomo reached out to his donors Monday to reflect on his administration's accomplishments, lash out at the state legislature and the current "state" of New York.

"It is important to remember our accomplishments because we can not all the state to go backwards," Cuomo said. "We worked too hard, and the consequences are too important."

Cuomo's comments, calling his resignation "difficult," came ahead of the New York Democratic Party chair Jay Jacobs publically endorsing Gov. Kathy Hochul for the 2022 gubernatorial race — with more contenders set to run or rumored to make an announcement, like Attorney General Letitia James.

Jacobs said Monday he spoke to Cuomo ahead of his announcement.

"From the beginning, this was an obvious effort by some to use Albany politics to do what the people of the state would not allow them to do to me at the ballot box: remove me from office," he said.

Though the former governor said he believed "the facts and the truth will win the day," Cuomo continued to attack James' independent report on his alleged sexual misconduct — calling it "false" and "politically and personally motivated."

"[It's] clear to anyone who read the report and separated rhetoric from reality," he added.

Cuomo said he "feared" the state is in a "dangerous moment" — seeming to weigh in on Hochul's short tenure and the looming governor's race.

"This is not New York at her finest and we must never settle for less than the people of the state deserve," he said. "Albany insiders underestimate the people of the state. New Yorkers have seen effective government that works for them and they will not return to the old days."
