There is little doubt that James Gunn is already preparing to work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. However, it looks like the filmmaker already has his next project planned out. Gunn confirmed that he is already set to work on his next DC project after Peacemaker.
Gunn has once again been interacting with his fans on Twitter, answering questions about his work. One fan had left a comment on Gunn's post regarding a possible DC project that led to an exchange with another fan. After the two fans argued about Gunn's next project, the filmmaker ultimately responded to them.
"Yes, I'm developing another DC project besides Peacemaker," Gunn wrote.
This is great news considering that people are already hoping that Gunn will continue working with DC. At this point, we already know that he wants to work on Peacemaker Season 2 but there's a good chance that the next project will be a feature film. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
Gunn has already completed work on the first season of Peacemaker and is expected to be involved in Season 2 when it gets greenlighted. It's unlikely that he will work on the next DC project immediately since he's still scheduled to start shooting the MCU film. However, we could get an update by the end of 2021 or early next year.
Peacemaker has not yet been given an official release date. However, it is already expected to premiere on HBO Max in January 2022.
