All eyes were understandably on Tom Brady during Sunday night's game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium, as it marked the first time that the future Hall of Fame quarterback stepped foot in Foxborough for a game since parting ways with the Pats in 2020. Despite Brady's presence, though, Mac Jones found a way to steal some of the limelight with an encouraging performance under center.

While Jones was not able to do enough to prevent the Patriots from losing to the reigning Super Bowl champions, 19-17, his efficiency with the ball netted him a place in the record books, per Stats By Stats.

Mac Jones of the @Patriots has completed 70.0 percent of his passes so far this year (112/160). That's the highest completion percentage by any QB in NFL history over his first 4 career games (min. 100 attempts).

Jones is still learning the ropes as a quarterback in the pros, and growing pains are to be expected. The Patriots are already 1-3 after four weeks, but with a gallant stand in the face of Tampa Bay's stout defense, Jones continues to earn the trust not only of Bill Belichick but that of New England fans, who have been spoiled by Brady with success for two decades.
