SOUTH PARIS (WGME) -- The trial begins Monday for a Peru man charged in the double murder of his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend.
Police say on January 1, 2019 Mark Penley shot and killed Heather Bickford and her boyfriend, Dana Hill, in their South Paris apartment.
Police say after the shooting, Penley called 911. According to court paperwork, police arrived to find Penley holding Bickford's infant child and her 8-year-old on the couch after he called 911.
According to court documents, Bickford was reportedly in fear for her life up to the very day she was killed.
Bickford's landlord reportedly told investigators she was trying to get before a judge on New Year's Eve because she claimed Penley was following her.
Court documents also detail witness accounts of Penley's pent up jealousy, and his preparations to kill Bickford so that, "no one else could have her."
Jury selection will start Monday with opening arguments set to begin on Wednesday.
