Miami Curated Logo

Miami Jewelry

You long time readers know that my signature fashion item are earrings. I don’t even want to count the number of pair I have. My justification is that people often stop me and ask about my earrings which is an intro to MiamiCurated, so let’s say they’re “promotional pieces”. Actually, they cost a lot less (the costume jewelry variety) than handbags or shoes, so a perfect “splurge”. With that in mind, here’s a list of my favorite Miami jewelry designers that have a flair for earrings and some also do other jewelry. And, a special visual treat, to die for rings from a hot New York designer.

All the Miami jewelry designers happen to be Latin American. Several of them were featured in MiamiCurated reader events, and in fact, as soon as things get safe, there’s an event waiting in the wings. In the meantime, check out the links to these designers.  Enjoy!

Note: Prices range from $100 to around $200 except where otherwise noted. All sell online and have retail outlets where noted.

Rock + Bone

Rock  + Bone’s earrings are exclusive designs of Paris trained, Miami born Alejandra Kelly whose pedigree includes major luxury brands. All their pieces are hand-stitched using different materials such as  stones, beads, shells, charms and pompoms, all on a leather backing.

And for those of you who can only wear clip ons, your time has arrived – all of her designs are clip ons. They’re surprisingly light, so easy to wear, and you’ll find a wide range of colors to go with any outfit. These attention getting accessories also come in “minis”, for those who want to make a statement but prefer smaller size. She also makes eye catching headbands that are bound to elicit compliments.

Earrings from Katherine Cordero

Katherine Cordero

Tucked away in a mini strip mall in Wynwood, 219 N.W. 20th Street (T.786-296-6490) is some of the more creative jewelry I’ve seen in awhile. Several of the pieces, the necklaces, are covered in glass cloches as if they’re just for a museum display. And these pieces of Miami jewelry very well could be museum worthy.

Earrings from Katherine Cordero

The Venezuelan born jeweler and artist, Katherine Cordero, is an incredible and prolific talent whose muse is Frida Kahlo. The way she dresses could be the modern day equivalent. Many of the earrings are chandeliers, some designed with hand painted images, others with fabric tassels, and still others with beads. She has a shop but it’s more a workshop so best to shop online.

Here’s a look inside her workshop and to see other creations. Click here.

Earrings from CrystalDust Designs

Another top earring design label is CrystalDust Design. Their mantra is “from faraway travels to fleeting moments of beauty, inspiration stems from everywhere”. Each piece is handmade in Venezuela . Her latest collection, inspired by Italy and fruits and vegetables, is colorful, joyful and attractive, perfect for a ladies’ lunch.

Silvia Tcherassi

You’re most likely familiar with Colombian designer Silvia Tcherassi and her eye popping fashion and artisanal handbags, but did you know she has a wonderfully curated selection of costume jewelry earrings (no clips), from the seriously bold to original and low key models that still make a statement. Prices range from just under $100 to several hundred dollars.
