The New York Yankees edged the Tampa Bay Rays 1-0 yesterday at Yankee Stadium.
Aaron Judge drove home the winning run with a one-out single in the ninth inning and the Yankees clinched a playoff berth in their final at-bat of the regular season.
They will play in tomorrow night’s AL wild-card game against their rival Red Sox at Fenway Park, with ace Gerrit Cole on the mound, after Boston rallied to beat Washington later Sunday.
Gio Urshela made a Jeter-esque catch, charging recklessly into the visitors’ dugout in the sixth inning to catch a foul ball. He limped back to the home dugout after being tended to, and eventually returned to shortstop an inning later.
The Yankees finish the regular season at 92-70, and will play in the 1-game wild card tomorrow.
This is the first time this year that the Yankees played like they all wanted to win. Including Boone who is a terrible manager that has cost this team not to be in first place.
