NHL 22 Player Ratings: Patrick Kane, Alex Ovechkin Among Top-Rated Hockey Stars

It’s that time of year again when the latest ratings arrive for various professional sports stars. We’ve seen NFL stars, NBA stars, and soccer stars get their numbers. Now it’s time for the NHL 22 player ratings to arrive just ahead of EA’s hockey game. While cover star Auston Matthews was the first player to get their rating, EA is now releasing lists by position. Two recent lists revealed more players coming in with 92 ratings, just like Matthews.

EA reveals top 10 NHL 22 player ratings for RW

Just last week, Auston Matthews got his NHL 22 rating, learning that he improved by a point over last year’s number to become a 92 overall. That made him one of the top players in the game, but there are at least three other offensive stars with 92 OVR ratings.

Two of them were revealed in EA’s top 10 list of right wings for their hockey game. They are Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks and Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Kane was amongst the points leaders in the NHL last season with his 66 total. That included 51 assists and 15 goals in 56 games. He’ll try to help Chicago return to the playoffs this coming season.

Kucherov missed all of last season due to hip surgery. However, he was able to return in time for the playoffs and led the league in postseason scoring with his 32 points in 23 games. That also helped Tampa Bay repeat as Stanley Cup champions.

Below is the complete list of the top 10 right-wingers in the game. Boston’s David Pastrnak came in third with a 91 OVR, just missing the top two spots. Others in the group include Colorado’s Mikko Rantanen, Chicago’s Alex DeBrincat, and Winnipeg’s Blake Wheeler.

Former cover star tops list of top left wingers

Over on the left side of the centers, NHL 21 cover star Alex Ovechkin is rightfully at the top spot with a 92 overall rating. He’s joined by several 91 OVR players who could move up into the top-tier players group. They include Artemi Panarin of the Rangers and Brad Marchand of the Bruns. Others on the list include Jonathan Huberdeau (Panthers), Kyle Connor (Jets), and Jake Guentzel (Penguins).

As mentioned, Auston Matthews was among the first ratings revealed for NHL 22. However, others have been revealed with the defensemen and goalies.

Andrei Vasilevskiy led all goalies with his 92 OVR, while defenseman Victor Hedman led his position with a 92 OVR. So that makes six players in the 92 overall ratings group.

Fans will likely continue debating the numbers as the NHL season approaches. The new EA hockey game has a release date of October 13, 2021, with early access options available for NHL 22 pre-orders and EA Play.
